Our concern for the disabled, especially children, dates back to the club's beginnings. In 1915, when the Club was just one year old, it collected money to help a young boy who had lost both arms under a train. His parents were able to purchase artificial arms for their son thanks to the generosity of Rotary. The Service to People with Disabilities office may be reached by calling (937) 390-8760 or emailing jdeer@woh.rr.com. The club offers the following activities:
Christmas Party For more than 75 years, the Springfield Rotary Club has hosted an annual Christmas party for children from the City and County Multiple Handicap classrooms. Rotarians and their spouses host the children and accompany them during the party. A traditional turkey lunch is provided by Wittenberg University and the children are entertained by a variety of performers. The highlight of the event is a visit from Santa and his elves who distribute a gift to each child.
