Services to People with Disabilities assists children as a first priority, and adults as funds permit, who are permanently physically disabled. Limited financial assistance is available for medical or adaptive expenses related to the disability, as well as to provide quality-of-life and educational enhancement. On-going programs include grants-to-teachers, summer camp sponsorships, a Special Olympics meet, and a Christmas party.

Riding Cart Makes Program More Inclusive

Apollo, a therapeutic horse at The Riding Centre in Yellow Springs, pulls a cart the Springfield Rotary Club purchased for the Centre's therapeutic riding program. The cart will allow the program to become more inclusive by enabling children with disabilities who cannot ride astride (or are initially afraid of the horse) and can only watch at the fence while others ride, to participate and receive the benefits. The harness and cart were hand-made by Amish craftsmen at the Lonely Pine Harness Shop in New Wilmington, Pa. and are built to last a lifteime. A name plate will be attached to the cart signifying the purchase by Rotary.
