Services to People with Disabilities assists children as a first priority and adults with permanent physical disabilities and mental retardation who reside in Clark County, Ohio. A limited amount of funding is available for adults with physical disabilities only. The program offers financial assistance with medical costs and equipment not covered under insurance plans or thru government agencies. Examples include orthopedic shoes, braces, wheelchairs, wheelchair ramps, adaptive equipment, devices to improve mobility and communication, accessibility, scholastic performance, vision or hearing, and limited medical services and supplies. Other programs include an annual Christmas Party for multi-disability classrooms in Clark County; assistance with cost of summer camps for children with disabilities; Dream Soccer Program for children and teens with disabilities; grants-to-teachers of multi-disability classrooms; adopting a therapeutic riding horse; serving as ombudsman, and supporting other organizations that benefit the disabled.
