Services to People with Disabilities assists children as a first priority and adults with permanent physical disabilities and mental retardation who reside in Clark County, Ohio. A limited amount of funding is available for adults with physical disabilities only. The program offers financial assistance with medical costs and equipment not covered under insurance plans or thru government agencies. Examples include orthopedic shoes, braces, wheelchairs, wheelchair ramps, adaptive equipment, devices to improve mobility and communication, accessibility, scholastic performance, vision or hearing, and limited medical services and supplies. Other programs include an annual Christmas Party for multi-disability classrooms in Clark County; assistance with cost of summer camps for children with disabilities; Dream Soccer Program for children and teens with disabilities; grants-to-teachers of multi-disability classrooms; adopting a therapeutic riding horse; serving as ombudsman, and supporting other organizations that benefit the disabled. Services to People with Disabilities is partially funded by The Springfield Foundation.

Grants-to-Teachers

The Grants-to-Teachers program has awarded $3,786 to 15 multi-disability classrooms in Clark County. Grants awarded included field trips for therapautic horseback riding, bowling, and life skills projects. Rotary also awarded funds for the purchase of equipment for the classroom including life skills and vocational training materials, a discovery table, sensory materials, math education materials, and grow lights for a greenhouse project.
